In Blondie Hits the Jackpot, Dagwood loses his job, and goes to work for a competitor. But the competitor’s cutting corners with defective materials, and people could die once the building’s completed!

Synopsis

Alexander goes on his first date! And poor Blondie’s not prepared for her “little boy” to be growing up. It’s actually a party, thrown by a wealthy client of his boss. Dagwood misunderstands when Mr. Hutchins is giving Alexander dating advice, and punches him into the pool!

Dagwood’s soon fired, and clownishly fails at a variety of jobs. The shrewish daughter of Mr. Hutchins is behind Dagwood’s firing, and she arranges for him to get a job working construction. Where he’s certain to fail. And Dagwood’s a fish out of water at the construction site. But unknown to either of the Hutchins, the foreman of the site is using substandard materials, and pocketing the difference. Dagwood finds out, tells Blondie, and she tells Hutchins. Eventually, after some comedy chases at the construction site, the skullduggery’s revealed, Dagwood’s rehired, the Hutchins site is resolved, Louise Hutchins eats some humble pie, and all’s well with the world.

  • Dagwood getting covered in cement, to the point where he’s a walking statue. “Hey, look, Pop’s plastered!”

  • Dagwood on the run from Brody.
  • Poor Emil Sitka getting knocked over into liquid cement at the construction site.
  • Playing “Jenka” at the construction site with lumber boards.
  • Blondie breaks wooden boards over the heads of the men attacking him, ending the fight. “I sure showed them!” “Yes, dear …”

Trivia

  • Three Stooges regular Emil Sitka has a minor role as worker at the construction site. But he keeps getting knocked into wet cement during the chase scene!

Through his blundering intervention in a party date set up by his boss for his son, resulting for the loss of a contract, Dagwood loses his job once again. Dagwood gets a construction job on a site for the lost client, and discovers the workmen are using faulty material on the job. He tells Blondie. Blondies takes over, and sets out to set matters right.
