In Barney Gets His Man, Deputy Barney Fife arrests a wanted criminal. And then he lets the praise go to his head, which is only expected. But then, the man who’s sworn revenge — escapes!

With the state inspector coming, Barney rushes out to get a prisoner and returns with Otis, who’s drunk. Ralph Case arrives, doesn’t like what he sees and starts writing down violations. Andy, who was out, comes in with a birthday cake for Otis and Case questions his methods. He leaves ready to recommend impeachment.

Hot Rod Otis – Andy and Barney are horrified to learn that Otis, the town drunk, has just bought a new car. After he passes out one night after a party, Andy and Barney put him in his usual jail cell. Then, they pretend that he is dead to teach him a lesson. A beautiful young lady (guest star Barbara Eden, best known for I Dream of Jeannie) comes into town after breaking up with her boyfriend. She sets up a manicure booth in a flustered Floyd’s barber shop. The wives of Mayberry get upset when their husbands line up for manicures by the pretty young lady, and when Andy tries to explain the situation to her, she thinks that he’s trying to propose.
