Spoken: I’ll show you how to own the moon And how to bounce the world just like a toy balloon. We’ll show you how to have your way And help yourself to wishes on a silver tray.

Fay Wray, Melvyn Douglas, and Lionel Atwill in The Vampire Bat
In The Vampire Bat, people are dying in the small German town of Kleinschloss. They are found dead in bed and drained of blood. So, Burgermeister Gustave Schoen (Lionel Belmore) and Dr Otto von Niemann (Lionel Atwill ) think that vampires are at large. But Detective Karl Brettschneider (Melvyn Douglas) thinks otherwise. Suspicion falls on village idiot Herman Gleib (Dwight Frye), known for befriending bats. When the townsfolk attempt to capture him, Herman panics and falls off into a deep well. He is killed, and the townspeople finish the job by driving a stake through his heart. Still, the vampire attacks don’t stop.

I love to hang around The lazy countryside (Where things are nice and breezy) With nature’s gang around The lazy countryside (Where life is twice as easy) Where the crickets you don’t hear in the city Keep a-hummin’ in your ear, oh, so pretty
Song lyrics to Say It With a Slap (1947) Written by Buddy Kaye and Eliot Daniel, Performed by Dinah Shore and Chorus in Walt Disney’s Fun and Fancy Free
[Editor’s note: Say It With a Slap is, frankly, a weird little song. The concept is, when a boy & girl bear fall in love, they slap each other. The hero of the story, Bongo, has been raised in a circus … And doesn’t know this. And his would-be girlfriend is heartbroken that he won’t slap her. As I say, a weird little song …]
My, what a happy day What a sunny sky Kind of makes you sigh in a happy way What a very merry day All the world is gay When your cares are light And your heart takes flight And you’re swept away
