Godzilla 2014 is a gritty, realistic sci-fi action epic. The King of the Monsters returns to his roots as one of the world’s most recognized monsters. He’s pitted against malevolent creatures that threaten humanity’s existence.
Review
Should I be worried that my adult children were rooting for the MUTOs? Seriously. While watching this together for the first time, their sympathies went not to the humans, or even to Godzilla. Instead, to the prehistoric, mutated, murderous MUTOs. Because of their touching love story. I have to say, it was reminiscent of the end of Rodan.
But, I’m getting ahead of myself.
Cast of characters
- LT Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Avengers: Age of Ultron). He’s the son of Joe and Sandra Brody. And after the nuclear plant’s collapse, he grows up in the United States. Then he becomes a lieutenant in the United States Navy as an explosive ordnance disposal officer.
- Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad). Ford’s father and former lead engineer at the Janjira nuclear plant. Until its destruction in 1999. But after his wife Sandra’s death, he seems to become unhinged. People, including his son, think he’s a conspiracy theorist. And that he tries to find somebody else to blame for his wife’s death. But sometimes, the paranoid are actually right …
- Sandra Brody (Juliette Binoche). A nuclear regulations consultant at the Janjira nuclear plant. She’s Joe Brody’s wife and Ford’s mother. She commits a heroic sacrifice, to save the lives of her husband and countless others.
- Dr. Ishirō Serizawa (Ken Watanabe, Ebirah Horror of the Deep). A scientist for Project Monarch.
- Elle Brody (Elizabeth Olsen, Avengers: Age of Ultron). Ford’s wife and a nurse at San Francisco General Hospital.
- Dr. Vivienne Graham (Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water). A scientist with Project Monarch. She has been Serizawa’s “right hand” for many years.
- Admiral William Stenz (David Strathairn). An Admiral in the Seventh Fleet of the United States Navy. He’s the commander of the United States Navy task force in charge of tracking down the escaped MUTO.
Product Description
