Review
Yes, Rebirth of Mothra III is effectively a kids’ movie. But it’s a very well done kids’ movie, and I’m not only referring to the special effects. It’s a tale of courage, heroic sacrifice, giving a “bad” person a chance at redemption, and family love. All of which are things that modern Hollywood should relearn.
Belvera: Wisdom… Courage… Love.
Mothra travels a bazillion years into the past, to attempt to defeat King Ghidorah when he was younger, and weaker. But he’s still immensely powerful. It’s only through the support of her fairies that the weakened Mothra manages to overcome, and defeat, the prehistoric Ghidorah. Which destroys modern day King Ghidorah, freeing the children. But seemingly at the cost of her own life, in the distant past. And then two baby Mothras cover her with their webbing.
But King Ghidora isn’t dead in the modern time, and returns with a vengeance. Re-kidnapping the thousands of school children. And the two surviving fairies battle him, on their own. But then, out of a giant egg comes the recovered, all-new Mothra! And the battle’s on again in modern times. And Mother’s truly angry, and defeats Ghidorah without breaking a sweat. And all’s well, except for the death of Moll. But then …. You’ll have to watch the movie for yourself.
