- Boris Karloff (The Body Snatcher; Frankenstein 1931) as Dr. Victor Sartorius. The brilliant, amoral research scientist. He’s willing to murder the elderly Mr. Clifford, in exchange for a large ‘donation’ from his widow to fund his research.
- Joan Wyndham (The Fortunate Fool) as Nurse Eve Rowe. Dr. Sartorius’ new nurse. She’s intelligent and observant, and begins to put 2 and 2 together, to realize that her employer may be a murderer … The protagonist of the film.
