Once compliant with his commands, Dr Marlowe intends to transfer their living energy and reanimate the corpse of his late wife in a horrific experiment.

Cast of characters

  • Bela Lugosi (The Devil Bat, White Zombie)… Dr. Marlowe. The mad scientist, seeking to resuscitate his “dead” wife by transferring the life of another woman into her body. It almost works with Stella, but only for a moment. He uses hypnosis to the control the kidnapped women. He pretends to be a “normal” doctor, to examine Stella, when she’s escaped while in a hypnotic trance.
  • John Carradine (Five Came Back, The Secret of NIMH) … Toby. Marlowe’s intimidated servant. He’s very frightened of his next beating.
  • George Zucco (The Mad Ghoul, The Cat and the Canary) … Nicholas. Apparently the voodoo priest, working for Marlowe.
  • Wanda McKay (The Monster Maker) … Betty. Stella’s sister, and Ralph’s fiancée. Towards the end, she’s kidnapped as another subject to transfer life to Mrs. Marlowe.
  • Louise Currie (Adventures of Captain Marvel) … Stella Saunders. Betty’s sister, kidnapped & put into a trance by Marlowe, as one of the unwilling donors to revive Mrs. Marlowe.
  • Tod Andrews (From Hell It Came) … Ralph. Male protagonist and reporter. His car runs out of gas on the way to his fiancées house. He meets Stella, who gives him a ride. Until she has car trouble, just before she’s kidnapped by Marlowe’s men.
  • Ellen HallMrs. Evelyn Marlowe. The doctor’s “dead” wife, who hasn’t decomposed after 22 years. More likely comatose than dead.
