Meant to Be – a story of several intersecting lives: a young man looking for his birth mother, a young girl with promise unexpectedly pregnant, a mom trying to deal with loss …

Review

Meant to Be is a very interesting movie, well done, with good acting. The audience is introduced to several people, at first seemingly unconnected. A married couple with a daughter in college — and the wife clips articles out of newspapers about young men. She works as a counsellor for young people, and she’s dealing with a nice young lady attending high school. The lady has an alcoholic father, and abusive boyfriend. Seemingly unconnected to this is a young man, searching for his birth mother. He just lost his job, and he’s trying to become a writer. Staying at a nice motel while searching, he meets a nice young lady there, who’s also looking for her birth mother.

And then, at the motel, he’s meets a housekeeper, played by Della Reese. She definitely plays it as though she were playing Tess from “Touched by an Angel“. And it turns out that there’s more than a little truth about that vibe.

The straightforward movie takes a Twilight Zone-style twist midway through. And I really can’t say more, without spoiling an excellent film. My wife & I recently watched it on Tubi TV, and we both enjoyed it and recommend it highly.
